Wild about Animals

Our field trip to the zoo was just the beginning of all things animals.  The kinderbugs have had lots of fun with all of our animal themed activities and centers!

I purchased Deanna Jump's Zoo Animals packet and it was just full of all kinds of great stuff!  You can purchase it here!

Here are just a couple of great ideas from her packet.

We didn't just have fun with zoo animals, we also threw in some farm animals too!  The farm animal measurement center came from Mrs. Kilburn's Kiddos.  Check it out here.

I created several animal themed centers that were inspired by Julie Lee.  I love her ideas!!!! Check out her zoo ideas here.  The clip art is from KPM Doodles.

My best friend and teaching partner, Lisa Ring, created some awesome anchor charts to use for teaching about animals.  Check them out here!

Here are a few more activities we did this week.  I have had them forever so I can't tell you where they came from. :(

Too bad I'm not going to the beach.

I am doing yard work!!! Uuuuggggghhhhh

BUT my yard is going to be looking good!!!

BTW.....my class had an AWESOME day yesterday at the Jacksonville Zoo!  The weather was great and the Kinderbugs had a blast!!

Hope all my bloggy friends have a great day today!  I will be back with more animal/zoo freebies sometime this weekend!

Freebie or two....as promised!

Are your kiddos struggling with segmenting syllables?  Well mine are!  Bless their little hearts they are getting segmenting phonemes confused with segmenting syllables.  I probably would too if I were six.  So...........I decided to search for syllable games last night.  What's more fun than learning while you play a game....Right?!?!?  I had seen one somewhere out there in bloggy land but alas I couldn't find it last night.  So I made my own and I am sharing them with you! If this was your idea or you know who the idea belongs to, let me know so I can give you or them credit.  Hope your kids like them.  Click on the picture to get your copy.  BTW....I added a key to the document you should get it when you click on the link.

Helloooo out there! Anyone still following me??????

Hello to all my bloggy friends!  Contrary to popular opinion, I have not fallen off the face of the Earth.  I have been so completely bogged down enjoying the wonders of remodeling my house that I barely have time to think!  I am still teaching my little heart out, stalking your cutie cutie blogs and getting some wonderfully creative ideas.  Even though I haven't been blogging or leaving ya'll comments that doesn't mean I haven't been reading about all your great work.

I feel much better now that I have gotten that little confession out of the way......let me tell you what we are up to!  Next week are beginning our unit on animals......one of my favorite units of study!  To go along with our study of animals, we are taking all 110 of our kindergarten students on our annual field trip to the zoo!!! I am super dee duper excited because I love this trip!!!  The kids get so much out of the trip and have a great time too.

I have found lots of activities to go along with all the stuff I already have.
Here are a few links to zoo activities and crafts.
Deanna Jump has a great Zoo unit.  I recently purchased it on TPT!!
Julie Lee has some cute creative zoo activities here.  She always has the cutest centers and inspires me to make my own!
April over at Chalk Talk has a zoo mini unit that is free to download.

That's all for now!  Sorry no freebies or pictures but I promise I will post some zoo freebies this week  AND take pictures of a the cutie cutie stuff we are going to do!
